i really need a test. i've taken several depression and social anxiety online tests and they were all positive. i don't know how to tell my mom i need a test, she just might turn me down and tell me you're just a teenager again. how do i seek help?
We have a few links posted on our page for minors who need help convincing their parents that teens really can have mental disorders. I encourage you to look through them and print out whatever you think would be helpful to give to your mom to read.
You don’t need a test or an official diagnosis to get help. Just ask her to see a counselor. A counselor can identify what’s going on with you just as well as any doctor. Or you might talk to the school counselor and see if they can’t speak with your mom and explain some basic things about mental disorders and persuade her to get help for you. I’m sorry I can’t do more.
